Dockside Crane (1/87 scale Kit)
Kit Number: RM-102 Static Version Non Working (no motors, gears or control panel, etc.)
$1685.00 plus $350.00 S/H Kit Number: RM-202 Motorized Version (all motors, gears control panel, etc.) $3338.00 plus $350.00 S/H The crane is designed on a composite of global prototypes for general purpose application, allowing maximum flexibility to handle all envisioned freight movement in model railway operations. The aesthetics and overall structure has been endorsed as prototypically correct by an experienced crane engineer and designer. This impressive large dockside crane is designed by Brian Lovett of Scenics Unlimited from the UK. Constructed from photo-etched brass, nickel-silver sheets, brass and whitemetal castings. Kit weighs in at over 6.5 pounds. The motorized version features all functions working as if in reality: there are 5 independent and simultaneously controllable powerful motors providing track travel (760mm/2'6" of track is included), 360 degree rotation, jib elevation, and two independent hook winches. With the motorized version, a dedicated console provides power and control through the track. Although the control system makes use of available DCC components and technology, the crane is intended to be an independent unit and cannot be driven as an accessory of any DCC system. Independent control of every function is provided by: two X-Y joysticks to provide fine speed and direction control of the four crane motors (rotate, jib and two winches), while the track travel has seperate switches providing a sensible division of the functions Clam Bucket and Container Lift device are included with the kit, the other accessories are sold seperately. This kit is a TRUE WORK OF ART....!
